Overseas New Immigrant Non-Fiction Literature Research Association (ONINFLRA) is a new non-profit organization focused on documenting the real-life stories of individuals who immigrated overseas during the 1940s and 1950s.
Our missions:
1. To document the personal and collective memories of new immigrants amidst the tides of historical change.
2. To build bridges of cross-cultural dialogue.
3. To support the generational transmission of Chinese culture overseas.
4. To foster cultural exchange between nations—contributing to both local and global civilizations.
5. To promote the historical and literary development of new immigrants—especially through the lens of nonfiction literature.
We believe in the power of storytelling as a tool for empathy and social change.
To maintain fairness and inclusivity, the contents of politics, religion, commerce, and pornography material are excluded in our association.
Key Words
Oversea New Immigrants:
- Immigrants from Taiwan since 1945.
- Immigrants from China since 1978.
Non-Fiction Literature: It refers to any writings based on real-life elements, guided by the principle of truth, including real people, events, or emotions. These writings will be documentary and historical. It is one of the most powerful methods of recording an era due to its roles as:
- Historical archive: Personal migration journeys, cultural conflicts and integration—all are valuable fragments of our time.
- Emotional connection: Real stories connect Chinese communities around the world, evoking shared understanding and empathy.
- Cultural bridge: To amplify the voices of Chinese immigrants, break stereotypes, and promote union of diversity.
Two Major Categories:
- Writing about oneself: Includes stories, essays, diaries, letters, narratives, memoirs, etc.
- Writing about others: Involves true stories of individuals, groups, or events—through reporting, interviews, oral dictation, essays, memoirs, and nonfiction novels.
